FlowMingle Questionnaire

// JULY 2024

Designed an interactive questionnaire feature for FlowMingle, aimed at helping event hosts gain deeper insights into users signing up for events. By tailoring questions to gather preferences, interests, and goals, the feature enables hosts to create more personalized and engaging event experiences.

I conceptualized and implemented the questionnaire to streamline user understanding, enhancing both host preparation and attendee satisfaction.

Ideation

Identified Problems: Hosts lacked sufficient information about attendees to create personalized & engaging events.Research-Based Insight: Conducted research to understand the needs of both event hosts and attendees, uncovering the importance of collecting preferences and goals during the sign-up process.

Conceptualization: Envisioned a dynamic questionnaire feature integrated into the event registration flow to gather key user insights, such as interests, expectations, and goals.User-Centered Design: Focused on creating a simple and intuitive experience for attendees while ensuring the data collected would directly benefit hosts in event planning.
01. User Research

I conducted a total of 4 interviews with a mix of event hosts and attendees to gather insights into their needs and pain points. The participants included:

  • 2 Event Hosts who regularly organize events in various industries.
  • 2 Attendees who frequently sign up for events ranging from networking sessions to workshops.

The user interviews highlighted key challenges and opportunities:

  • Event Hosts need actionable attendee insights to create tailored experiences.
  • Attendees value personalized events and are open to sharing preferences during sign-up.

04. Prototype

When attendees decide to join a certain event, a pop-up will appear showing the questions that they would need to fill out.

On the host’s side, as they create an event, they’ll have the option to add questions. They are also able to add questions that are required to be answered.

The host will receive a notification in the invites page, where they’ll be able to view the answers.

05. User Testing / Next Steps

I conducted usability testing with 5 users (2 event hosts and 3 attendees) to validate the FlowMingle questionnaire feature.

The testing revealed that hosts valued the flexibility of customizing questions and suggested adding pre-designed templates for efficiency. Attendees appreciated the intuitive interface and recommended options for more nuanced responses, like combining multiple-choice with free text.

Based on the feedbacks, my next steps include:

  • Creating a library of pre-designed question templates tailored to different event types for hosts to use.
  • Ensuring the questionnaire is fully accessible by optimizing it for screen readers and other assistive technologies.
  • Tracking completion rates and feedback on the questionnaire to measure its success and identify areas for improvement.
